11 PM? In New York, That’s When We Leave the Apartment.

Review: Green Lemon (The Logistics)

So, I enjoyed the food. I respected the tequila. I made peace with the "SoHo" name.

But then I looked up the Location & Hours on their website to plan my Friday night, and I almost dropped my phone.

Friday - Saturday: 11am - 11pm.

Ex-squeeze me?

11:00 PM?

On a weekend?

In New York, if a bar closes at 11 PM on a Saturday, it’s because it got raided by the cops or the building caught on fire. There is no other excuse. I thought this was the "party" spot? I thought this was where the tequila calls you? Apparently, the tequila has a curfew. It has to be in bed by midnight.

The "Temporary Hours" Excuse

The website lists these under "TEMPORARY HOURS."

I’m suspicious. How temporary is "temporary"? Is this a post-COVID thing? A staffing thing? Or is this just Florida slowing down because the humidity made everyone sleepy?

Sunday to Wednesday they close at 10 PM. That’s not a restaurant; that’s a library schedule.

The Location: The Ciccio Compound

915 S Howard Ave.

I realized something while standing outside.

Daily Eats (the diner) is at 901 S Howard.

Green Lemon is at 915 S Howard.

Water + Flour is at 1015 S Howard.

Sweet Soul is at 1101 S Howard.

I’m starting to think this isn't a neighborhood. It’s a monopoly board. I’m pretty sure James Lanza owns this entire zip code. I can literally stumble out of Green Lemon after too many "Margo-nas," walk twenty feet, and pass out in a booth at Daily Eats (if they weren't already closed at 3 PM, which I’m still mad about).

The Contact Info

They have a separate number for Catering.

(813) 593-5247.

They really push this catering thing. "Fresh Mexican-Inspired Street Fare" at your wedding?

Honestly... I’d go to that wedding. If you serve me those gluten-free fried chicken tacos instead of a dry piece of wedding salmon, I’ll give you a toaster.

The Verdict

Green Lemon is a great time, but it’s a Sprint, not a Marathon.

You go there, you eat the street corn, you drink the scary-large margaritas, and then you get kicked out right when the night is supposed to get interesting.

So, plan accordingly, fellow New Yorkers. Drink fast. The clock is ticking.

Rating: 7/10 (Great location, terrible bedtime).
